Subaru unveiled a teaser for the BRZ 2022 sports coupeOctober 5, 2020
The Subaru press service has published a teaser for the 2022 Subaru BRZ sports coupe. In addition to the image of the rim of the novelty and part of its body, it was reported that the car will debut this fall
Subaru discontinued production of the first-generation BRZ sports car at the end of July, without elaborating on when the model’s successor would be unveiled. A couple of minutes ago, the automaker’s press office released a teaser for a completely new performance of the Subaru BRZ, accompanied by the announcement that the world premiere of the sports car will take place this fall. This could mean the rear-wheel drive coupe will debut in November.
The new BRZ will again be technically similar to the Toyota 86.
At the moment we only have one teaser image showing the design of the wheel rim and slightly disguised body of the car. The front brakes appear to be cooled through ventilated arches, while those ten-spoke wheels appear to be borrowed from the “charged” Toyota GR Yaris.
That’s all Subaru is ready to reveal at the moment about the long-awaited successor to its sports car – there is no information on the technical characteristics of the new item. There have been conflicting reports on the Web that the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 will finally get a turbocharged engine, but the latest information suggests that the “dynamic duo” will still be powered by a naturally aspirated engine. Buyers will allegedly be offered a 2.4-liter four-cylinder Subaru FA24 engine with a capacity of 217 (240 Nm). That’s slightly more than the current 2.0-liter unit with 205 hp. (211 Nm).
Reported. that will be offered a six-speed manual transmission, borrowed from the current version of the model, as well as a new automatic transmission. Toyota said a while ago that the refreshed 86 Coupe will handle better than before, which means the BRZ should also offer its owners a “more fun driving experience.”
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the prices for the updated Subaru Impeza have become known. Sales of new items in the North American market will start in October this year.
