The press service of the Japanese automaker has published photos of its updated station wagon Subaru Levorg. The novelty received a new 1.8-liter L Turbo Boxer engine, the power of which is not reported. The start of sales is scheduled for the second half of next year.

Subaru has been selling the Levorg station wagon in Japan for almost the past six years, so it is not surprising that the automaker decided to substitute a model for the next (second) generation. Everyone who comes to the Tokyo Motor Show will be able to get acquainted with the new product – for now, the station wagon is presented as a prototype, but it is expected that the production version of the model will look almost the same. The start of sales is scheduled for the second half of 2020 in Japan.

Subaru calls the updated Levorg a completely different car. This is due to the fact that the station wagon is built on the global Subaru platform, which debuted in 2017 on the Impreza model, and since then has also been the basis for the Outback Legacy / all-terrain sedan and Ascent crossover.

Subaru is not yet ready to show the interior of the updated Levorg – the windows of the car are very darkened. We know some of the technologies that will be on the list of equipment – among them the new generation of EyeSight security systems, with four radars and a wide-angle stereo camera to provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle.

In addition, company representatives promise the latest and best driver assistance systems, which will monitor the space in front of the car and reduce speed if necessary.

Under the hood of the novelty is a newly developed turbocharged engine. The horizontally located four-cylinder unit has a working volume of 1.8 liters and has the advantages of direct injection, as well as lean fuel combustion technology. We do not know how much power the engine produces, but the company says that it helps the station wagon to strike a balance between high performance and fuel efficiency.
