Subaru launches European Forester hybrid salesNovember 29, 2019
The first buyers of Forester e-Boxer are the British: Subaru has a fairly strong position in the local market. The hybrid version will be at least 10% more economical than regular gasoline.
The Forester e-Boxer is equipped with a combined installation based on the familiar 2.0-liter engine. Its power is 142 hp at 6,000 rpm and 188 Nm at 4,000 rpm, and in addition to the internal combustion engine is an electric motor with a capacity of 12 hp and a torque of 65 Nm.
The design feature is that the electric motor is a structural part of the CVT transmission. A lithium-ion battery pack (4.8 Ah) is installed under the rear of the cabin. This slightly reduced the volume of the luggage compartment, compared with the gasoline version, from 520 to 509 liters. The battery is charged, incl. using a regenerative braking system.
Forester e-Boxer can cover a short distance in electric mode: it does not exceed 1.6 km at a speed of 40 km / h under the most favorable conditions. In terms of fuel economy, Subaru speaks of the 10% advantage of the Forester e-Boxer over gasoline versions with a 2.0-liter engine. All-wheel drive with X-Mode is standard on the Forester Hybrid.
Outside, the Forester e-Boxer is difficult to distinguish from the usual one: only the nameplates give the hybrid version, a different design of the 18-inch wheels and all-LED optics with C-shaped running lights.
The equipment will include a complex of EyeSight active safety systems, which include an automatic braking system with an effective hazard detection distance increased to 110 m.
The cost of a Subaru Forester e-Boxer in the UK is £ 33,995.
