Subaru introduced the first rechargeable hybridNovember 20, 2018
Japanese company Subaru declassified in the US rechargeable hybrid based on the model Crosstrek. Under this name, there is sold a crossover XV, which is essentially a “raised” version of the Impreza hatchback.
The hybrid powerplant includes the familiar subarovskaya combination: opposit engine with a capacity of 2.0 liters, a Lineartronic variator and a symmetrical all-wheel drive system, which are complemented by a pair of electric motors. One plays the role of a starter, but can also recharge the traction battery from the engine. The second, with a capacity of 118 horsepower, drives the wheels in a hybrid and purely electric mode of motion. He also recharges the battery when braking in recovery mode.
For the hybrid, the two-liter engine was slightly deformed – the power was reduced from 152 to 137 horsepower. In addition, a new braking system has been developed for it, which automatically distributes the braking force between the operating brakes and the electric motor operating in generator mode.
The lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 8.8 kWh is located under the floor of the luggage compartment: because of this, its volume was reduced from 588 to 450 liters. Cruising in pure electric mode is 27 kilometers. By the way, the Toyota Prius Prime with the same capacity of the battery power reserve is one and a half times more and is 40 kilometers.
In pure electric mode, the Crosstrek Hybrid can accelerate to 104 kilometers per hour. Despite the weight gain of 258 kilograms, the electric “surcharge” made the hybrid more dynamic than a similar crossover with a purely gasoline power unit: the acceleration time to 100 kilometers per hour is less than a second.
The external differences of the hybrid are small, but they are. A pale blue mother-of-pearl appeared in the color palette, blue rings were installed inside the headlights, and metallic inserts were installed in the radiator grille and on the bumpers.
In the interior there is a new trim of leather in contrasting shades (gray and dark blue) with blue stitching, as well as blue inserts on the dashboard and doors. In addition, the hybrid received an electromechanical “handbrake” with a button, while the conventional crossover still has a traditional parking brake lever.
The premiere of the new modification will be held at the Los Angeles Auto Show. For American dealers Subaru hybrid crossover will arrive at the end of this year at a price of $ 34,995. A similar crossover with a traditional 2-liter gasoline engine and a variator costs in the US from $ 22,795. In North America, locally produced cars are sold at the Subaru plant in Indiana.
The previous generation Subaru Crosstrek had a hybrid modification, but it was a traditional hybrid without the possibility of recharging.
