Strange Cadillac XT5 crossover limousine spotted in trialsSeptember 11, 2020
Engineers of the American brand are testing the Cadillac XT5 crossover in a version with a very long wheelbase. According to rumors, a limousine based on a premium crossover will be presented in a couple of years.
As the popularity of crossovers and SUVs continues to grow, companies that previously offered sedan-based limousines will have to adapt to stay afloat. They will have to use crossovers and SUVs as the basis for their future projects.
Apparently, the American Cadillac is developing its own limousine, which it was decided to make from the XT5 crossover. The “complex” appearance most likely means that the model is in the early stages of the development cycle, so it will take several years before we see it debut.
The photos show that Cadillac engineers have significantly expanded the car’s wheelbase. We don’t know of Cadillac’s specific plans, although the middle doors will likely disappear and be replaced by body panels.
The six-door design would be a little odd if Cadillac has no other plans. A badge on the rear body panel indicates that Cadillac will equip its new model with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Its power is 237 horsepower (350 Nm).
Cadillac will have to compete with a large list of limousines. This year alone we saw the Toyota RAV Limousine, Mercedes-AMG G63 Limousine and Land Rover Range Rover Limousine. We won’t be seeing the Cadillac XT5 limousine anytime soon as we don’t expect it to arrive before 2023.
