The stage of the Formula 1 World Cup in Azerbaijan was postponed indefinitely. This decision was made due to the epidemic of coronavirus. This was reported in the official Twitter of the race organizers. The races on the highway in Baku were to take place from June 5 to 7.
“The decision to postpone the fifth Formula 1 racing weekend in Baku was made after a long dialogue with the leaders of the racing series, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the Azerbaijani government,” the organizers said in a statement.
A new race date will be announced later. It is possible that it can still take place in 2020. All tickets purchased will be considered valid without any restrictions.
Earlier in Monaco, the stage of the world championship in racing in the Formula 1 class was canceled. This decision was made by the organizers of the competition because of the epidemic of coronavirus. Moreover, in this case we are not talking about postponement of the race – the Monaco Grand Prix will definitely not take place in 2020. The stage of Formula 1 has invariably been held in this principality since 1954. In addition, the canceled stages of Formula 1 in the Netherlands and Spain. As for these races, they were postponed for an “indefinite period.”
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, which the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized as a pandemic, a number of major automotive events around the world have already been canceled or postponed.
