The American company SSC announced a new attempt to establish an absolute speed record. To register a record, the SSC Tuatara hypercar must accelerate to 482.7 km / h at a distance of 3.7 km.

The SSC Tuatara has definitely set a speed record by becoming the fastest production car on the planet. The race took place at the John Bomer training ground in the United States – the car moved at a speed of 483 km / h. This speed was higher than the previous record, which was held by the Swedish Koenigsegg Agera RS, which was recorded in 2017, and is definitely higher than what the French Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ was able to accelerate in 2019.

An attempt to set a speed record took place in October 2020.

Speaking with Muscle Cars & Trucks, the CEO of SSC said that they are now planning the next attempt at top speed by the Tuatara hypercar. He separately noted that “Tuatara is capable of reaching the target of over 482.7 km / h. Reaching this record mark for our hypercar is a challenge for me personally.”

“I think that if we can become the first car to do 2 races in a row, at the same time accelerating to a speed of 482.7 km / h or more, and we do it at a distance of 3.7 km, I think we will install a new a world record that no one will doubt, ”said the CEO of SSC.

Now the question is when and where the attempt to set the world record will take place, and it is also unknown who will be driving the hypercar. The head of the SSC did not disclose any information regarding this in his interview.
