The SUV intended for the European market will be presented in a few days. At the first stage, the model will be available with gasoline and diesel engines, later an electric modification will appear.

In Korea, the new SsangYong crossover was declassified a week ago. Recall, a model called Korando (factory index C300) has replaced the SUV, which is called Korando C (index C200) in the home market. In Europe, the predecessor is already known as “just” Korando, and the new SUV will be presented there on March 5 – the European version will debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

As in the brand’s homeland, in Europe a crossover will be offered with a 1.6 turbo diesel (136 hp). In addition, the model will also be available to Europeans with the new 1.5 petrol turbo engine, the output of which is not disclosed in SsangYong (the Korean version does not have such a motor). And later, presumably next year, the fully electric version should also be on sale, but there is no data on the installation of the green Korando either. In Korea, the diesel SUV is equipped with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, four-wheel drive put only two-pedal version. Most likely, the European version will have the same boxes. The predecessor is equipped with a 149-horsepower gasoline engine 2.0 (only in Europe) and a 2.2 diesel (178 hp), both are also combined with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

The list of equipment of the new SsangYong Korando includes: LED optics, virtual dashboard (provided for top versions, in “simple” configurations – analogue instrument cluster), contour interior lighting, seven airbags (including knee for the driver), adaptive cruise control , dual-zone climate control, automatic emergency braking systems, warning of leaving the lane, switching lights of headlights.

Simultaneously with the announcement of the European Korando in Korea, a full-fledged presentation of the local cross-country took place. Thus, the dimensions of the car became known: the length has increased by 40 mm to 4450 mm, the size of the wheelbase is now 2675 mm – 20 mm more than the model of the previous generation. The amount of luggage opened last week – 521 liters against 486 liters from its predecessor.

In Korea, orders for the SUV are already taking, the price – from 22,160,000 won. The previous model in the home market in 2018 failed: 3610 cars were sold, which is 54% less compared to 2017. In Europe, the previous generation crossover is also not very popular – 2548 copies sold last year (-23%).
