Journalists were able to capture the prototype of the high-performance BMW M5 sedan. The official presentation of the new items is expected in the second half of next year.

It’s no secret that the Bavarian brand BMW is working on an updated 5-Series business-class sedan. We have already seen the prototypes of new items in the sedan and station wagon on public roads. Specifically, this batch of “spy” snapshots gives us a first look at the updated version of the high-performance M5.

This slightly masked prototype gives an idea of what to expect from the long-awaited new product that will appear in the second half of next year.

Camouflage film in front of the test machine hides a block of upgraded laser headlights, as well as LED daytime running lights, which received new graphics. The branded false radiator grille looks a bit bigger than it is now, but we can only confirm this when we are shown the serial version of the machine. The bumper probably also has some modifications, including modified air intakes.

Behind the changes are very similar – they are not so noticeable, but nonetheless. Camouflage hints at some changes in the design of the taillights. In fact, the entire rear bumper is masked, which may mean that the diffuser and the overall layout of the bumper elements can be changed. The exhaust pipes seem unchanged compared to the M5, which is sold today.

What will happen to the new product under the hood is still unknown, the M5 is currently equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 engine with two turbines, with a capacity of 591 hp (750 Nm), but a more powerful version of the M5 Competition offers 617 hp.
