Spy photos of a disguised Lotus Esprit appeared on the networkSeptember 25, 2020
Carscoops has released spy photos of a Lotus Esprit mule designed for the Evora.
The British manufacturer announced the return of the legendary Esprit sports car ten years ago. At the time, Lotus promised the car would arrive in 2013 with a revised design and a 5.0-liter V8 turbocharged engine producing 621 hp.
And now, finally, the British brand has begun testing the updated Esprit model, while due to the fact that the mule is being tested, there is nothing special to say about the appearance of the new product, except for the widened wheel arches and a wider track.
It is assumed that the novelty will receive a modern design inspired by the Evija model, a 2-seater cabin layout, which will be more luxurious and technological in comparison with the Evora. Although little is known about the new model, it is known that it will become a “bridge” between the existing and future line of Lotus. So, it will be based on a modernized version of the platform from Evora.
The Esprit is expected to be equipped with a hybrid powertrain based on a V6 engine from Toyota. The plant’s capacity must exceed 500 hp. As for the timing of the premiere of the novelty, it should debut next year, while it is possible that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the British manufacturer has changed its plans.
In addition, it was recently noted that the British automaker Lotus has postponed the start of production of the 2000-strong Evija hypercar. It should be emphasized that at present the cost of the novelty of the British company remains unknown.
