A more high-performance performance of the American sports car can get an 800-horsepower engine. The official presentation of the Chevy Corvette in the “charged” version of the Z06 will take place in two years.
The new generation of the Chevy Corvette sports coupe, which received the designation C8 Stingray, was officially unveiled recently – a few months ago. In addition to being the first mid-engined sports car in history, the new Vette is also famous for its impressive LT2 engine, which develops 495 “atmospheric” horsepower. Acceleration to 100 km / h takes less than three seconds.
Although it sounds quite impressive, the new report says that a more powerful version of the new product, which will be called Z06, can boast even more power. Such a car can be shown in two years.
According to a foreign publication from Automobile, the Corvette Z06 will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine based on the Blackwing family of engines used in the powerful Cadillac CT6-V sedan.
The current Blackwing engine from Cadillac produces “only” 550 hp. power. It is reported that in the future Z06 may develop a maximum power of 800 hp. It will also have a torque of about 516 Nm.
For comparison – the previous generation Corvette Z06 with a front engine has a capacity of 650 hp. (479 Nm). Thus, according to insiders, in the near future we will see the most powerful Corvette ever produced.
The new Corvette Z06 is also rumored to have a 10-speed dual-clutch gearbox instead of the current 7-speed DCT. Rumor has it that optionally, an American novelty can be ordered with a manual transmission.
