Sports car Audi R8 with rear-wheel drive returns to the American car marketJuly 10, 2020
The car will be available in two versions of the body, and due to less weight it will be able to demonstrate better dynamics.
German automaker Audi resumes sales of an R8 sports car with rear-wheel drive in the U.S. car market. On Friday, July 10, according to EPA. According to preliminary data, it will be possible to purchase R8 in two versions of the body – a coupe and a convertible, but there is no official confirmation of this information.
Until 2018, the R8 rear-wheel drive model was presented at American dealerships as a limited series, but later it was decided to make it exclusive to the European market. The technical characteristics of the car are the same as those of the R8 with an all-wheel drive system – under the hood there is a 5.2-liter V10 engine with a performance of 532 horsepower at 540 Nm of torque.
However, the rear-wheel drive version of the car is much lighter than the all-wheel drive version – it weighs 65 kg less. Due to this, this modification has better dynamics – the first 100 km / h Audi R8 RWD can dial in 3.7 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds better than the version with all-wheel drive.
Previously, there was information that the next version of the sports car Audi R8 will be electrified. Most likely, we are talking about a hybrid propulsion system of a car.
