Spanish SEAT has a new CEOSeptember 23, 2020
The CEO of Germany’s VW Group, Herbet Diess, has just appointed Wayne Griffiths, CEO of SEAT Cupra’s sports division, as CEO of SEAT. He will take up his duties on October 1 this year.
Wayne Griffiths will also remain Chief Executive Officer and President of the Cupra sports brand, while maintaining the position of Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the company, according to official figures. In the meantime, Herbert Steiner will become the new SEAT Vice President for Production and Logistics.
By joining SEAT in 2016 as Head of Sales, Mr. Griffiths has helped make the Spanish automaker the fastest growing brand in Europe.
He was able to achieve sales growth of over 40% from 2016 to 2019. He became the head of the sports division of SEAT Cupra in January last year.
“Wayne Griffiths is one of the most qualified VW Group managers. Over the past four years, he has driven SEAT sales to record levels and is spearheading the development of a new sports brand, Cupra. He has my full support and I am convinced that he will continue this path of success at SEAT, ”said Diess.
Other changes in SEAT’s leadership include the replacement of Steiner Christian Vollmer, who moves to the VW brand as a new member of the works council, and SEAT vice president of legal services, Luis Comas, becomes an independent member of the board of directors of SEAT.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the first premium showroom Seat Cupra was opened in Mexico. The sports brand Cupra, which spun off from the Spanish company Seat, has finally made its debut in Mexico. The Cupra Ateca crossover was introduced to the local market, as well as a main dealer showroom of 300 square meters was opened.
