Sony embarked on road tests of its Vision-S conceptFebruary 27, 2020
The press service of the Japanese brand showed a video showing how the previously introduced Vision-S concept goes through a series of road trials. The car will not go into series, at least under the Sony brand.
Sony literally shocked the automotive world last month – the company introduced its first car. The show was held at the Consumer Electronics Show 2020. Vision-S Concept is a modern elegant electric car with an improved autonomous driving system and design that reminds us of the recently introduced Polestar Precept and Lucid Air.
The prototype shown in Las Vegas (USA) was just a demonstration car, equipped with a pair of electric motors with a capacity of 268 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.8 seconds.
Now, the Japanese technology giant is taking the next step, sending the Vision S to a series of road tests. Sony specialists together with the Austrian Magna Steyr and other partners are jointly developing to prepare the car for test drives on public roads.
Unfortunately, Sony is not going to enter the car business. Instead, all work on the concept, in fact, like the car itself, is simply “Sony’s contribution to the evolution of cars”, but it will be very interesting to see which of the technologies implemented in the concept will be used in production cars of other companies.
Recall that Vision S is equipped with at least 33 sensors that detect people and objects not only outside the car, but also inside the four-seater cabin. It is also worth noting the huge number of screens on the dashboard, as well as the 360 Reality Audio system, which creates a three-dimensional sound effect, placing speakers on each seat.
