SOL brand unveils Sol E40X electric SUV in ChengduJuly 27, 2020
The car dealership in Chengdu, China, began its work on July 24. One of the premieres of the motor show was the new electric car Sol E40X – the second model of the Sihao brand (aka Sol), specializing in inexpensive electric vehicles.
Until recently, there was only one model in the arsenal of the SOL brand – the Sol E20X subcompact SUV worth 128 thousand yuan. Now, at the Chengdu Auto Show, the brand’s second, larger model, a crossover with the E40X index, has debuted.
Recall that the SOL brand was created back in 2018 as part of the JAC-Volkswagen JV. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the new electric car is similar to the JAC models. So, in terms of the exterior, the new Sihao / Sol almost completely copies the gasoline JAC Jiayue X4. But on the technical side, the novelty repeats the JAC iEVS4.
The new electric car got a contrasting dark chrome stripe on the nose and rear bumper, a rotating gearbox selector in the cabin, a new climate control unit and an original steering wheel. Optionally, you can equip the battery cross with a virtual dashboard.
The power reserve of the “green” novelty reaches 502 kilometers, and the capacity of the traction battery is 66 kW • h. The E40X is also reported to support “fast” charging. With the help of the novelty, the brand plans to revive its sales.
The joint venture will make another major step in gaining popularity in 2023, when it starts production of new cars on the MEB platform from Volkswagen.
Earlier, the startup Seres brought a spectacular SF5 crossover to Chengdu. This is a serial version of the SUV, whose concept was shown back in 2018. The Chinese market will become the debut market for the novelty. After the crossover will reach the United States.
