President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte took part in the ceremony of destruction of 68 expensive cars that were illegally imported into the territory of the state. Cars and several motorcycles were crushed by bulldozers, Euronews reports.
Duterte and other senior Philippine officials watched bulldozers destroy luxury cars, including the Lamborghini, the Ford Mustang and the Porsche sports cars. The total cost of crushed vehicles amounted to 5.89 million dollars.
Rodrigo Duterte took over as president of the Philippines in 2016. Previously, cars brought to the country by smuggling were confiscated and sold at auction, and income went to the budget. Having headed the state, Duterte refused such a policy. According to him, the government has no right to make profit, which is connected with criminal activity.
