Smart showed Forease electric car for bad weatherMarch 1, 2019
Smart introduced a new version of its conceptual electric vehicle Forease. The novelty was named Forease + and, unlike its predecessor, it received a roof of bright orange color, covered with soft material. Thus, the new version of the car is suitable for driving in the rain.
The roof, if desired, can be removed by the efforts of one person. At the same time, the car still lacks side windows. The company believes that in this way the driver will be able to “enjoy the free ride”.
The electric convertible is based on the EQ Fortwo Cabrio. The design of the car received the features of Crossblade (2001) and Forspeed (2011). The car is equipped with LED optics, diffuser, 18-inch wheels and three-dimensional lights. Inside the prototype, an unusual steering wheel was installed, resembling an aircraft steering wheel.
Technical characteristics of the electric vehicle are unknown. Normal Forease is equipped with an electric motor with an impact of 82 horsepower. The power reserve of the concept is about 160 km. To 100 kmh a car can accelerate in 11.4 seconds. The maximum speed is 130 km per hour.
The serial version of Forease is not planned. However, it became known earlier that after 2020 Smart company will become a fully electric brand. In two years, the German mark will only sell cars equipped with green engines. At the moment, Smart has already stopped selling gasoline-powered cars in North America.
Concern Daimler intends to invest in the company Smart in the French Ambach 500 million euros. This amount will go to the modernization of the plant, where, among other things, they will launch the production of a compact electric vehicle Mercedes-Benz EQA.
