Slow drivers called the cause of fatal accidentsDecember 25, 2019
According to a study by the British Department of Transportation, over the past five years, the number of people who died or were seriously injured as a result of an accident due to driving too slowly increased by 75 percent.
According to the Daily Star, only last year in the UK 26 people were seriously injured and two died as a result of accidents caused by the unreasonably low speed of one of the participants in the movement. Another 132 people received minor or moderate injuries.
At the same time, in the UK there are fines for driving much slower than the established speed limit – the driver will have to pay 100 pounds, he also gets three penalty points. But even this does not always make drivers drive faster.
Hugh Bladon, the founder of the Alliance of British Drivers, agrees that slow drivers are no less dangerous on the road than speed men. In his opinion, such a driving style annoys others, collects “tails” from other drivers and forces them to overtake, the most dangerous maneuver on the road.
Slow riding, according to Bladon, “is selfish and completely stupid, and even leads to disaster.” But at the same time, the representative of the alliance understands that some drivers drive slowly, because they do not have enough experience and self-confidence. As Bladon admitted, something can hardly be done with this.
