It is known that the Czech novelty, which will “play” in the currently popular segment of the SUV (crossovers and SUVs) will be officially introduced in 2020. According to the plans of the current leadership of the automaker, the car will become a worthy competitor to the Japanese compact crossover Nissan Juke.

In a recent interview with foreign automotive publications, official representatives of the Czech brand Skoda told about another new product. The crossover offensive of the Skoda brand will continue with a model that, according to the assurances of the company’s representatives, could become a bestseller of the brand. It is reported that the car will be presented within the next 12 months. In the current model range of the company, the novelty will be located below the Kodiaq and Karoq crossovers.

The new model will be built on a modular platform MQB A0, which was developed by engineers of the German automotive concern Volkswagen Group, which includes the Czech Skoda. According to representatives of the company, the car will become the biggest “player” of the compact crossover segment – “there will be significantly more seats in the cabin than in the German Volkswagen T-Roc” – say the Skoda guys. It is noteworthy that the latter is a higher class.

“We are always trying to develop practical cars with an increased wheelbase, a large luggage compartment and a spacious interior relative to competitors,” – said Skoda CEO Bernhard Meier during his performance at the Paris Motor Show. “The SUV segment, which has recently gained popularity, is very interesting to us. And we are going to take our place there. ”

The new crossover is unlikely to get all-wheel drive – the price tag from this will only decrease. Under the hood will be a 3-cylinder engines VW Group – they will be offered as the base, as well as 4-cylinder 1.5-liter TSI (gasoline) and a 1.6-liter diesel engine TDI. As the gearbox will offer manual and automatic with a second clutch.
