Skoda will develop a new Volkswagen PassatOctober 2, 2020
The Czech automaker will develop a new generation of the Passat sedan.
The new generation of the German Volkswagen Passat sedan will be developed by Skoda Auto, which is part of the Volkswagen AG concern. The novelty with the B9 index will be larger and more premium than the previous model, but the design of the sedan will remain recognizable.
The next generation Passat will be based on the MQB architecture. The novelty is maximally unified with the updated Skoda flagship – Superb. It should be noted that the MQB platform will be used for the first time in a sedan in China, since the car was previously built on the outdated PQ46 bogie.
According to unconfirmed information, the new Volkswagen Passat may be released in the body “liftback” with a fifth door. The novelty will have an increased wheelbase and width, and the interior of the car will become more spacious.
The range of engines of the new Volkswagen Passat will include traditional gasoline and diesel power units, as well as hybrid installations of various types. An all-electric version of the sedan is also expected in the future.
