Skoda wagon competes in speed with an arrowAugust 16, 2018
The Austrian division of the company Skoda conducted an unusual experiment. It was attended by martial arts master Marcus Haas, Olympic athlete Laurence Baldauf, specializing in archery, and also a “charged” station wagon Octavia Combi RS.
Haas drove in the car, leaning out of the hatch, and was able to catch his hand an arrow flying at a speed of about 215 km per hour (60 m per second). The distance between the archer and the target was 70 m. The arrow during the flight describes the arc, so the space where the sportsman could catch it fell to 30 meters. To successfully perform the trick at Haas was only 0.5 seconds.
Skoda Octavia Combi RS is equipped with a two-liter four-cylinder supercharged engine, developing 245 hp. and 370 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-band “robot” with two clutches. The station wagon is able to dial the first “hundred” in 6.6 seconds.
