Skoda unveils new Octavia RS and Octavia ScoutNovember 30, 2020
The Czech automaker has completed its fourth-generation bestselling model with the Octavia RS and the all-terrain station wagon Scout.
The new Octavia models boast even higher levels of safety, new assistance systems, increased comfort and modern connectivity. Never before has ŠKODA offered so many powertrain options as in the latest generation.
“Skoda Octavia RS and Octavia Scout round off the latest generation of our bestseller. I am delighted to be continuing the legacy of the RS and Scout models in terms of sportiness and an active lifestyle. Our Octavia range is more diverse and more sustainable than ever. This badge is available as a hatchback or station wagon, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with modern engines running on gasoline, diesel or CNG – and customers can even choose an electrified light or electric engine, ”said Christian Strube, Skoda Board Member for Technical development.
The RS and SCOUT models have been the top models of the Octavia family for several generations. The Skoda Octavia RS iV, the first model of the RS brand with plug-in hybrid drive, is now offered with either the most powerful diesel or petrol engine. This means that for the first time an Octavia RS is offered a choice of three powertrains: the new-generation 2.0 TDI EVO now produces 200 hp and comes with front or all wheel drive. The new EVO 2.0 TSI version has 245 hp, combined with front-wheel drive. And the new Octavia Scout offers a choice of five diesel or petrol engines, as well as a new 1.5 TSI version with mild hybrid technology.
Both the Octavia RS and Octavia Scout have received all the upgrades that the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia boasts. Thus, the charged RS version comes with innovative and improved driver assistance systems from the base model. For example, the new collision avoidance system helps to avoid pedestrians, cyclists or other vehicles by intervening directly in the steering, which helps prevent an impending collision. At intersections, Turn Assist can detect oncoming traffic at an early stage when turning left, warn the driver, or automatically stop the vehicle. The Departure Warning System, available from Spring 2021, lets passengers know if another car or cyclist is approaching from behind when the car door is open. Side Assist warns the driver of vehicles approaching from behind or in the vehicle’s blind spot.
For the Octavia Scout, all of the fourth generation Octavia assistive systems are also available, including Side Assist, Front Assist and many more.
