Skoda told why they will not be able to produce budget carsOctober 29, 2019
The head of Skoda, Bernhard Meyer, has denied rumors that the parent company Volkswagen will transfer the Czech brand to produce more budget models. This question was thoroughly discussed on the pages of Autocar.
Volkswagen management will not transfer Skoda to a more budget segment, as it was recently reported in news feeds. This writes the British edition of “Autocar” with reference to the head of Skoda Bernhard Mayer. He noted that at present the Czech brand, as before, follows the strategy that was developed three years ago. Meyer called the planned plan one of the most intelligible on the market, recalling that for many years Skoda adheres to the same values - price-quality ratio, reliability, spaciousness and optimal price.
According to the top manager, the brand could try its hand at creating an entry-level model, but this scenario is possible only in the case of new production facilities.
In the meantime, the automaker barely manages to provide fans of cars from the current model line. Especially popular among them are the Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq crossovers.
“Demand for Skoda cars in Europe exceeds supply,” Mayer said, emphasizing that the brand allows for the expansion and modernization of production facilities. The company is not averse to covering more segments at all, but for this you need to wait for the right moment and the emergence of great opportunities.
