The company Skoda has published photos from the tests of the new five-door Scala hatchback and revealed the first details about this model. According to the press service of the Czech brand, one diesel engine and three gasoline engines will be included in the car engine line-up. Power units will be from 90 to 150 hp
Gasoline units of 1.0, 1.5 liters will work in conjunction with a five-speed gearbox and manual with six steps. Optionally, customers will be offered a 7-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. For a 1.6-liter diesel engine, a six-speed manual or automatic transmission with 7 stages is provided. Also, customers will be offered a dual-fuel version of the new product (CNG).
The car will be built on the platform A0 MQB. This chassis is already at the heart of a range of compact and mid-size cars from the new Volkswagen Polo to the Skoda Kodiaq crossover. The length of the machine will be 4.362 mm and width 1.793 mm. The size of the wheelbase is 2,649 mm.
Judging by the photos, the novelty will use the same design language as the Vision RS presented at the Paris Motor Show. The luggage compartment will be 467 liters. With the rear seats folded, this figure will increase to 1,410 liters.
The hatchback can be equipped with a fully digital Virtual Cockpit dashboard, as well as a multimedia complex with support for MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and a 9.2-inch screen. The software will be updated “by air” – through the cloud service. Also, the novelty will receive digital keys – the driver will be able to open the car using a smartphone.
Skoda promises to present the five-door Scala hatchback in the first half of next year. In the model range of Skoda, the car will be a replacement for Rapid. The public debut of the novelty will most likely take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Car prices will be announced later.
