Skoda spoke about the new crossover Skoda Enyaq iVMay 7, 2020
The first production model of Skoda on the platform of the electric car MEB, with rear or all-wheel drive and a range of 500 km.
The new Skoda Enyaq iV is an innovative step forward in the strategy of electrification of the Czech automaker. The first production model of the Czech brand, based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric vehicle modular platform, combines brand-specific strengths, such as generous space and emotional design, with fun and at the same time stable handling. Three sizes of batteries and five motor options are available. It is planned to assemble an all-electric SUV at the main Skoda factory in Mladá Boleslav, making it the first MEB-based Volkswagen Group in Europe to be produced outside Germany.
Skoda Auto CEO Bernhard Meyer said: “The Skoda Enyaq iV marks the beginning of a new era for Skoda, and it is the pioneer of our e-mobility campaign. With it, we make the E-Mobility simply smart thanks to its large power reserve and short charging time. At the same time, the Enyaq iV takes Skoda’s typical strengths, such as its superior interior space, fashionable design and maximum functionality, to the next level. Our first all-electric model based on a modular platform for electric vehicles Volkswagen Group will be built at our main plant in Mladá Boleslav, in the heart of Skoda. This is an important step towards securing the future and maintaining jobs in the region. ”
The first MEB-based Skoda is perfect for everyday use and fun driving. The new Skoda Enyaq iV is a typical brand car, but with a completely new drive concept. The first production model of the Czech manufacturer, based on the modular platform of the MEB electric vehicle, is also ideal for long trips, as it boasts a range of up to 500 km and fast charging. Thanks to the car concept, designers were able to design the interior of the Skoda Enyaq iV in a completely new way. This provides even more space for passengers and their luggage, despite the compact size of the car, and at the same time creates an impression that is as emotional as it is modern.
In addition, the novelty offers the most advanced connectivity options, as well as infotainment solutions and typical Skoda Simply Clever features.
The first electrified SUV of the Czech automaker has a length of 4648 mm, a width of 1877 mm and a height of 1618 mm, as well as a wheelbase of 2765 mm and a boot volume of 585 liters. A low boot threshold for an SUV makes it easy to load even heavy or bulky items.
The world premiere of the car will also mark the beginning of pre-sales. Serial production of the Skoda Enyaq iV will begin at the end of 2020. Its launch on the market is scheduled for early 2021. Special version Fonders Edition, equipped with special functions and a different appearance, will be limited to 1,895 copies, which marked the founding of the company 125 years ago.
In the basic version, the motor drives the rear wheels, thereby creating a technical bridge to the history of the car manufacturer. More powerful versions are equipped with a second electric motor in front, which even more efficiently transfers torque to the road. In its most powerful version, the Skoda Enyaq iV can tow loads of up to 1200 kg, if required. Only five different power options and three battery sizes will be introduced to the market.
The base version will be the Skoda Enyaq iV 50. Its lithium-ion battery has a total capacity of 55 kW / h. The rear electric motor has a power of 148 hp, offering a maximum range of up to 340 km. It grows to 390 km in the 180-horsepower Skoda Enyaq iV 60, equipped with a 62 kW / h battery. 200 hp Enyaq iV 80 rear-wheel drive has a maximum range of up to 500 km in the WLTP cycle. The 82 kWh battery is also used in two versions equipped with a second electric motor and, therefore, all-wheel drive: 80X and vRS, which produce 265 and 305 hp. respectively. The top model accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km / h. The maximum range of both four-wheel drive options is up to 460 km.
Recharging up to 80% is done in just 40 minutes with a quick charge. ŠKODA ENYAQ iV can be charged in three different ways. In addition to a regular 230 V household power outlet with 2.3 kW AC output, the car can also be easily refueled overnight at home with a wall box rated up to 11 kW. It takes six to eight hours depending on the size of the battery. DC fast charging stations with a charging power of 125 kW are the third option. They can charge an ENYAQ iV battery from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes.
A distinctive feature of the new Skoda Enyaq iV is its innovative interior design that conveys a new sense of spaciousness. The car also offers the most advanced solutions in the field of connection and infotainment system: the driver is shown all the necessary information on a separate 13-inch central display and, if desired, on the screen of the digital instrument panel.
