Skoda Kodiaq Coupe caught in EuropeSeptember 11, 2018
A new modification of the flagship crossover Skoda disguised as the Mazda CX-5 of the previous generation.
Kopega Kodiaq GT has been announced only for China – the appearance of the Chinese version has already been declassified, the novelty will be released to the Chinese market in the near future. But for Europe, the “coupe” has not yet confirmed: earlier the head of Skoda in one of his interviews only hinted at the possibility of the appearance of such a car outside the PRC. Meanwhile, at the disposal of the Spanish edition of Motor were pictures of Kodiaq GT, which were made in the Old World. Probably, a positive decision on the output of the cross-coupe on the European market is still accepted, it remains to wait for the official release.
Several Skoda “skidders” have hit the lens, most of them disguised as Mazda CX-5 of the first generation: the features of the “Japanese” are imitated both in front and behind. However, one of the Kodiaq GT “dressed” in the usual spotted camouflage, through which broken lights can be seen, like the Chinese coupe. In addition to lanterns, the coupe-like SUV differs from the standard Skoda Kodiaq bumpers and, of course, littered with rear posts.
The Chinese version is shorter and lower than the usual SUV – the length of the “coupe” is 4634 mm (-63 mm compared to the standard model), the height is 1649 mm (-27 mm). The width and wheelbase did not change – 1883 and 2791 mm, respectively. Skoda Kodiaq GT will be available only with a five-seater saloon, whereas a regular SUV has a seven-seat version. Note, the Chinese Skoda Kodiaq the same dimensions as the European model.
According to preliminary data, in the Middle Kingdom cross-coupe will offer a turbo four 2.0 TSI (186 or 220 hp), which works with a seven-speed robot DSG. The same engine in China is equipped with a standard SUV. For the conventional model, there is also a 1.8 TSI engine with 180 hp, but the coupe did not get this motor. Kodiaq GT can be purchased with a four-wheel drive.
In Europe, the usual Skoda Kodiaq is now available with petrol 1.4 TSI (125 or 150 hp) and 2.0 TSI (180 hp), as well as with 2.0 TDI diesel (150 or 190 hp), the drive is front or full. Soon, the crossover with a new 150-horsepower 1.5 TSI engine (replacing 1.4 TSI of the same power) and a modernized two-liter petrol engine (the return has grown to 190 hp) will soon be on the European market. What motors will be in the European Kodiaq GT – is unknown.
Information on the timing of the start of sales of the cross-coupe in Europe there. It is not excluded that this version will debut there only next year. By the way, Skoda will be the first mass brand, which will offer European buyers a coupe-like SUV.
