Skoda is testing an updated version of the “charged” crossover Kodiaq RS

A camouflaged prototype of the updated Skoda Kodiaq RS 2021 model year was seen in Scotland. The presentation of the Skoda Kodiaq crossover can be expected at the end of this year.

Just a couple of hours after the publication of a set of “spy” photos of the updated Czech crossover Skoda Karoq, his “elder brother” appeared in similar pictures. Before us is not just an updated version of the 7-seater Kodiaq, but its high-performance RS version, and yes, these are the first pictures of this model. It is reported that the car was captured in one of the resorts in Austria, where tests were also carried out and the usual version of the mid-size crossover.

As with the compact Karoq, the high-performance Kodiaq RS has camouflage on the front and back, where there will be slightly revised bumpers and updated lights. Do not pay attention to the halogen headlights of this prototype, because the fast crossover, available today, already has a standard LED optics as standard. It is possible that the new product will receive the same matrix LED optics as the flagship fourth-generation Superb and Octavia sedan.

The prototypes of the regular version of the car had similar camouflage in order to hide what, in our opinion, would be a slight change in the body.

One of the tested cars in the cabin had a sheet with technical specifications talking about the availability of the new 2.0-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 200 horsepower. It’s about the 2.0 TDI Evo Volkswagen Group. A cleaner, from an environmental point of view, and a more efficient, from the point of view of fuel consumption, power plant will also be offered for the Octavia RS “charged” diesel engine, which will appear at the end of this year. The transmission will be exclusively DSG.

Compact diesel will not be the only new product for the new Kodiaq, as we also expect the appearance of a plug-in hybrid motor inherited from Superb iV. It should combine a petrol 1.4 TSI with a power of 156 hp. with 115 hp electric motor In the case of the Superb iV, the combined power is 218 hp.

Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the prototype of the updated Skoda Karoq crossover was first captured. Some publications published photos of a camouflaged prototype Skoda Karoq. The debut of the novelty can hardly take place until 2021.
