Skoda is preparing the concept of a budget crossover for IndiaDecember 5, 2019
Finally, Volkswagen Groupe decided to create its own alternative for the Dacia Duster. The press service of the concern officially confirmed that in February 2020 the concept of a cheap crossover will be presented.
Czech brand Skoda is preparing to bring its own cheap crossover onto the road. First of all, the model is being developed for the Indian market, where budget cars with a European design are in great demand. To do this, Volkswagen Groupe will develop a completely new platform as part of a new development program in the local market, India 2.0.
The novelty will be presented at the local auto show in New Daily. The conceptual model will be as close as possible to the production version, and the sale of the production version will begin by the end of 2020. And in 2021, a new sedan will be built on the same platform (presumably MQB-A0-IN).
This was stated by Skoda CEO Bernhard Meyer at an event in Prague last month. Both budget models will be built in India. Unfortunately, the company has no plans to adapt future models for the European market. Although plans may change in the future.
We said that if we want to be competitive, we must exactly meet the requirements of our clients in India. They are different from what we see in the rest of the world, ” – Mayer said.
