The company Skoda introduced a compact crossover called Kamiq, which is located on the step below the model Karoq. The public premiere of the car will take place at the end of April at the Beijing Motor Show.
Skoda Kamiq was developed specifically for the Chinese automotive market. At the heart of the novelty lay the old PQ platform, which, in particular, built Rapid for the PRC. The assembly of a compact crossover will be adjusted at the enterprise in the city of Jicin.
There are no technical data about Skoda Kamiq yet. According to unofficial information, the all-terrain vehicle will be offered with a single 1.5-liter petrol engine with a capacity of 110 horsepower. The crossover will be available exclusively with a front-wheel drive.
In Europe, Skoda will sell another compact model – the serial version of the concept car Vision X, presented at the Geneva Motor Show. The commodity version will be built on the modular platform MQB which already underlies, for example, Seat Arona and Volkswagen T-Roc.
The prototype of the Skoda Vision X was equipped with a hybrid power plant, based on a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine running on natural gas. The unit produces 130 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The engine works in tandem with a starter generator with a belt drive located on the front axle, as well as a 27-horsepower electric motor at the rear. These units are powered by a 48-volt on-board power supply with a lithium-ion battery of 1.5 kWh and a kinetic energy recovery system during braking.
