Skoda has developed a new technology that should help drivers suffering from allergies. So far, only the Scala hatchback has received a new function, Carscoops reports. Smart climate control equipped with a special sensor and filter that can recognize the pollen. After that, the system will be able to automatically turn off the air intakes, which will prevent the ingress of pollen into the cabin. At the same time, climate control will set a comfortable temperature in the car.
Skoda explained that allergies cause coughing, sneezing and itching in the eyes. All of these symptoms adversely affect road safety. In turn, many allergy medications can cause drowsiness in the driver. The company believes that the new feature will have a positive effect on the comfort and safety of car owners.
In addition, Scala was equipped with special sensors that are able to determine the direction of the sun’s rays and their intensity. Depending on this, the climate system will be able to set the optimum temperature for each part of the hatchback’s cabin separately.
Skoda Scala made her debut in early December 2018 at a special event in Tel Aviv. The novelty is the first model of the Czech brand, which is based on the modular chassis MQB-A0 of Volkswagen concern. The overall length of the car was 4362 mm, width – 1793 mm, and height – 1471 mm. The size of the wheelbase is 2649 millimeters.
The Skoda Scala is available with a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit fully digital dashboard. The company claims that this is the largest virtual dashboard among cars of the compact segment. Plus, the hatchback was equipped with the next-generation infotainment complex with a 9.2-inch touchscreen display.
The base engine is a 95-horsepower gasoline three-cylinder engine with a displacement of one liter. In addition, an engine of a similar volume is available, issuing 115 forces. The top-end unit – a 1.5-liter 150-horsepower “turbo”. Diesel line is represented by a 1.6-liter engine, issuing 115 liters. with. and 250 Nm of torque. Also, the hatchback will be offered with a 90-strong 1.0-liter G-TEC engine, which can consume both liquefied natural gas and gasoline.
