Skoda has broken the release of components for electric vehicles of the Volkswagen concernSeptember 7, 2019
The Czech plant located in Mladá Boleslav began the production of the first components for electric vehicles. It is planned that the Skoda plant will produce parts for the entire Volkswagen concern and all electrified vehicles based on the MQB platform.
The press service of the company Skoda officially announced the full launch of the production of new components for electric vehicles Volkswagen Group. In particular, the production of high-voltage batteries has already been launched. They will be used on hybrid vehicles built on the MQB platform. The first will be the Skoda Superb iV, the release of which will be launched before the end of the month at the plant in Kvasny.
To start production of batteries at the Skoda plant, 25.3 million euros were invested. Now the plant is only gaining power, and soon the level of production should reach an estimated capacity of 150,000 units per year.
“For us, the production of battery systems, which is a technologically complex process, is an important step on the road to electric mobility. We intend to expand the production of electrical components in the future, ”said Christian Bleil, Head of Component Production at Skoda Auto.
