Skoda has published a new design sketches, and also named some technical characteristics of the concept car Vision RS, designed to give an idea of the future sports models of the Czech brand. The public premiere of the prototype will be held in early October at the Paris Motor Show.
Skoda Vision RS will be equipped with a hybrid power unit consisting of a 150-horsepower 1.5-liter supercharged turbo-quater and an electric engine with a power of 102. The total output of the units will be 245 horsepower.
According to preliminary data, the conceptual hatchback can accelerate from place to 100 km/h in about seven seconds, and its maximum speed will be 210 km per hour. The electric motor will be powered by a set of 13-kilowatt lithium-ion batteries, which will provide a power reserve only on electric traction up to 70 kilometers (according to the European NEDC cycle).
The overall length of Skoda Vision RS will be 4.3 m, width – 1.8 m, and height – 1.4 m. The size of the wheelbase is 2.6 meters. Earlier in the company noted that in the development of Vision RS much attention was paid to aerodynamics. Distinctive features of the concept car were low-set head lights, a large optimized roof spoiler, a rear diffuser and streamlined wheel arches.
It is assumed that a number of design solutions Skoda Vision RS also use the next generation Rapid model, which will appear in 2019. The new Rapid will lose the old PQ26 platform, which will be replaced by the model architecture of MQB of the Volkswagen concern. This chassis already underlies a number of compact and mid-size cars – from the new Volkswagen Polo to the Skoda Kodiaq crossover. The line of units will include new 1.5-liter petrol turbocharged engines, which, depending on the modification, are developed from 125 to 150 horsepower.
