Simone Resta will return to Ferrari after the summer breakJuly 18, 2019
Last year, Ferrari Chief Designer Simone Resta left the team, taking the position of Alfa Romeo technical director. After unsuccessful performances in the first half of the season, there were rumors about the possible return of Resta in Maranello.
In May, the head of Ferrari Mattia Binotto did not deny the possibility of resuming cooperation with the engineer. Today, the British Motorsport Week, citing its sources, said that Simone Resta will return to work at Ferrari after a summer break, starting to develop the car for the 2021 season. During the mandatory vacation, in which the engineers have to leave when the team changes, Resta will work in the department for the development of road cars Ferrari.
After leaving James Ellison in 2016, this will be the fourth appointment of a new specialist to the position of technical director of Ferrari. At the same time, the return of Resta points to close cooperation between Ferrari and the FCA Group, which through Alfa Romeo is the title sponsor of the Sauber team. Despite the fact that FCA is not the owner of the team, the company controls it – the operational management decisions are made by Frederick Vasseur, but, in fact, Alfa Romeo is a subsidiary of Ferrari.
