Shown the revived Volvo sports car for $ 500,000September 2, 2020
The Cyan Racing team, which is the sports arm of the Geely carmaker (which includes Volvo), on Wednesday, September 2, unveiled the author’s project – the Volvo P1800 Cyan based on the classic Swedish coupe of the 1960s. A sports car is quite rare and very expensive.
Taking the well-known two-door Volvo P1800 as a basis, the restmod developers have replaced many body elements with carbon analogs, and have also strengthened the chassis thanks to carbon fiber parts.
The restmod suspension is now adjustable and fully independent on double wishbones. In addition, a differential lock appeared. The car received 18-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires measuring 235/40 in front and 265/35 in the rear, as well as brakes with 4-piston calipers. There are no driving assistants: there is not even an ABS.
The engine of the coupe – a 2.0-liter turbo four – is built on the basis of technologies used in a similar engine of the racing Volvo S60 TC1. The power unit produces 420 hp. and 455 Nm of torque. Gearbox – 5-speed manual transmission from Holinger with carbon propeller shaft. There is no information about the dynamic performance of the restmod yet, but it is known that the mass of the coupe is 990 kg.
The estimated turnkey cost of the Volvo P1800 Cyan is $ 500,000. The planned circulation of the unique sports car is currently not reported.
In addition, it was recently noted that the interior of the sedan of the Chinese corporation Geely based on Volvo was shown in photographs. It should be emphasized that the novelty will debut on September 26 this year at the Beijing Auto Show.
