Porsche has shown an updated Panamera. The most important innovation was the replacement of the Turbo version with the Turbo S.
The novelty is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which after the update develops 620 hp. and 820 Nm of torque, which is 70 hp. and 50 Nm more than its predecessor.
The redesigned Panamera accelerates to 96 km / h in 2.9 seconds, 0.5 seconds less than the previous model. A car with an extended wheelbase accelerates to the first “hundred” in 3 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 315 km / h.
In addition, the Panamera family has been expanded with a hybrid version with the 4S E-Hybrid attachment. This car is equipped with a power unit consisting of a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor with a capacity of 552 hp. (750 Nm). The hybrid model can accelerate to 96 km / h in 3.5 seconds at a top speed of 298 km / h. The 4S E-Hybrid, in particular, has a battery capacity of 14.1 – 17.9 kWh. The battery provides a range of up to 54 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. The Panamera also offers a 2.9-liter engine with 325 hp as standard. (450 Nm).
As for the exterior of the novelty, the most noticeable change was the appearance at the rear of the LED strip across the entire width of the body. The front part remains the same, while now it is decorated with parts from the SportDesign set, which was previously available exclusively as an option. The redesigned Panamera also features original 20- and 21-inch wheels and a sports exhaust system for a more pronounced V8 engine sound. In addition, the color scheme of the model was replenished with such shades as Truffle Brown Metallic and Cherry Red Metallic.
Speaking of the interior of the new model, it features a new steering wheel, electrically adjustable seats, a 21-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system and more.
Porsche engineers have also improved the steering and fitted new tires to increase traction. The Panamera Turbo S, in particular, has been fitted with ceramic composite brakes as standard with black or yellow calipers.
The Panamera models are also equipped with lane keeping and traffic sign recognition systems. For a surcharge, the car can be retrofitted with other driver assistance functions, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control with night vision and other options.
In North America, accepting orders for a new product starts in early 2021, at the same time the cost will be announced. The restyled Panamera will hit dealerships next spring.
