Shelby GT500CR or a refurbished legend with a carbon bodySeptember 22, 2020
Classic Restorations and Shelby American have announced a limited production of the Shelby GT500CR Carbon Edition. The car costs $ 298,000. A total of 25 copies of this iconic car will be produced.
Each of the 25 examples of this Shelby GT500CR Carbon Edition to be built is clad in carbon fiber body panels created by SpeedKore. The special Shelby model also features 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in 225/40 Michelin tires at the front and 315/30 at the rear. The exterior also includes triple racing stripes, sequential taillights and a gas cap in the style of those used on racing cars in the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance races.
Under the hood is a Coyote V8 with a massive Whipple supercharger – now the engine produces 810 hp.
This engine is mated to a Tremec 3:70 six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The GT500CR also features two Vaporworx electric fuel pumps, Magnaflow mufflers, dual 2.5-inch exhaust, BeCool aluminum transverse radiator, long stainless steel tube headers, and a pair of 13-inch electric cooling fans.
Other technical changes made to the car include Wilwood six-piston front brakes and four-piston rear brakes, biting slotted, perforated and zinc-washed brake discs. There are also adjustable front and rear coilovers, oversized front and rear anti-roll bars, and a rack-and-pinion power steering converter.
