Seven-seat crossover Seat Tarraco: the first teaserMay 17, 2018
The Spanish brand Seat has posted a tweet on a video on which you can view the new Tarraco crossover. According to preliminary information, the public debut of the seven-seat all-terrain vehicle will be held in the fall at the Paris Motor Show.
Seven-seat novelty will be built on the modular platform MQB of the Volkswagen group, similar to the one used for Skoda Kodiaq and Tiguan. Motor range will consist of gasoline turbo engines in volume of 1.4 and 2.0 liters, as well as diesel engines and hybrid power plant. If the Spaniards want a diesel version, then under the hood, Tarraco will have a two-liter engine, and it can be an EA288 Evo series that will receive the eighth generation Volkswagen Golf and the “fresh” Audi A4. It is equipped with a 12-volt starter-generator, which saves fuel during the descent, and its power is 136-204 horsepower, depending on the modification. As hybrid models are increasingly sold in Europe, under the hood of the Spanish crossover there may be a hybrid plug-in turbo-four-liter capacity of 1.4 liters by 218 forces from the Volkswagen Tiguan GTE 2019 model year.
As for the “charged” version of the Cupra, it has not been confirmed yet, although nothing prevents the Spaniards from equipping this model with an engine from the Ateca Cupra for 300 forces, or the Audi five-cylinder motor for 400 horses.
The name of Taracco for the new model of Seat was chosen by holding a special competition. 146 thousand people from 134 countries took part in it, and the total number of variants of the name exceeded 133 thousand. In the final, in addition to Tarraco, there were three more names: Alboran, Aranda and Avila.
Taracco – the former name of the oldest settlement of the Roman Empire on the Iberian Peninsula, which is now known as Tarragona.
