Senna will star in new Netflix seriesSeptember 4, 2020
Dedicated to the career of the three-time world champion, the multi-part film is due to hit the screens in 2022
The Brazilian film studio Gullane will soon begin filming an 8-episode feature series about Ayrton Senna. The picture is created by order of the American multimedia giant Netflix.
The plot of the series will cover almost a decade and a half from the rider’s move to the UK in 1981 to the tragic death of Senna on the track in Imola.
At the same time, according to representatives of Netflix, the family of the three-time world champion is providing the creators of the series “unprecedented assistance.” In particular, some of the scenes will be filmed at the family’s home in São Paulo, where the racer spent his childhood and youth.
Earlier it was reported that Hollywood actor Eric Bana, known for his love of motorcycles, is working on a script for a feature film about Mike Halewood, a multiple world motorcycle racing champion who also competed in F1 and at the 24-hour race at Le Mans. At the same time, Bana also works in close cooperation with the athlete’s family (Halewood himself died almost 40 years ago in a road accident).
The plot of the film should be Halewood’s return to motorcycle racing in the second half of the seventies after a 10-year hiatus – it brought the pilot victory in the famous Tourist Trophy race. As you might guess, Bana himself plans to play Halewood.
