Seidl: McLaren still not guaranteed fourth placeOctober 21, 2019
Four stages before the end of the season, Carlos Sainz takes sixth place in the standings, and McLaren – fourth in the Cup of designers. The team noted that they would try to earn points in the Grand Prix of Mexico to strengthen their position.
Carlos Sainz: “After a strong weekend in Suzuka, I climbed to sixth place in the standings. The result is impressive and adds motivation to continue to attack until the end of the season. It will not be easy to maintain a position, but I will fight and make every effort. We also made an important step forward in the Cup of designers, but it is important to stay focused.
I’m glad to be back behind the wheel at the Grand Prix of Mexico. This is an amazing stage, which takes place on a difficult track, so I will give all my best to earn as many points as possible again. I like the city and the support of Mexican fans – I look forward to seeing them during the weekend. ”
Lando Norris: “In Mexico City, usually there are interesting races, and the track should fit our car. Nevertheless, I know that I have to work hard to get the most out of the weekend. It’s interesting to pilot on the track, and the Stadium section is unique. Last year I participated in the first training session, and now I am waiting for the opportunity to race.
Mexico City has an amazing atmosphere, and the fans are passionate fans of racing. I am glad that the stage will remain on the calendar for the 2020 season. ”
Andreas Seidl, Team Leader: “We are heading to Mexico City with clear goals. The track is located high above sea level, so on Friday when searching for the machine settings you have to solve a difficult task. We will work hard to optimize the car for qualification and race.
Before the final Grand Prix of the season, our task is unchanged – to maximize the opportunities and gain points while working on the track and at the base. We are not yet guaranteed a fourth place in the Cup of designers, so we must continue to work so as not to leave any chances for rivals. The fight is not over – I’m waiting for an exciting race. ”
