Segway’s first smart moped raised $ 150,000 in 12 hoursOctober 3, 2020
The Segway Company is known for its rudder proto-gyroscooters, which became popular a few years ago. Now the company has launched a fundraiser on Indigogo for the smart moped eMoped C80 with a maximum speed of 32 km / h and a range of 85 km. In the first 12 hours of the campaign, over $ 150,000 was raised.
The Segway eMoped is equipped with an intelligent RideyGo system! It includes the Airlock function, which allows you to do without keys and “turn on” the moped by pressing a button on the application screen. Segway-Ninebot. The vehicle will automatically detect the owner when his smartphone is nearby.
The smart seat with Smart Seat Detection automatically locks a standing moped when the driver lifts the rear off the seat for more than 3 seconds, Gizmo China reports. In the same way, you can start a moped – the owner just needs to sit on it. At the same time, the system will allow you to start driving only if the driver sat down as expected – for his own safety.
The 1152 Wh lithium-ion battery provides a range of 85 km. It is removable, can be stored under the seat and weighs only 6 kg. The total mass of the moped is 55 kg, the length is 1.6 m, so it can be easily driven into an elevator or a train vestibule.
Cruise control allows the eMoped C80 to maintain a constant travel speed without constantly holding the steering wheel. To do this, it is enough to drive at the same speed for five seconds. After the blue light comes on, the driver can rest his hands.
GPS allows you to track your moped’s location at any time. If the system notices unusual actions – the vehicle is being moved, pushed or moved in any other way – sound and light alarms are turned on, the wheels are blocked, and the owner receives a message on the smartphone.
In the first 12 hours, the campaign on Indigogo raised over $ 150,000, in two days – more than $ 247,000.
Having abandoned this summer from the further production of its famous Segways, the company, however, did not put an end to scooters and presented a new model this year. It does not have outstanding characteristics, but the Air T15 weighs 10.5 kg, folds up in a second and travels 15 km on a single battery charge.
