See what happens if you drive 30 kilometers on a flat tireJanuary 25, 2019
One of the stages of the Dakar rally-marathon, French rider Sebastien Loeb finished on three wheels. A small video about what happened after that with the wheel was published by Red Bull.
The nine-time world rally champion punched the left rear wheel on his Peugeot 3008 DKR buggy. Stopping at the special stage for a replacement meant a waste of time, so Loeb decided to finish the finish as is, with a flat tire.
How does the team, four times won the “Dakar”
Had to go as much as thirty kilometers on broken rocky primers. To the finish of the special stage, the wheel was a pitiful sight: only rags remained from the tire, and the disk was flattened to the ground and collapsed in two – on the hub with the spokes and the rim.
In this case, the rally-raid prototype of Peugeot was not injured. Replacing the wheel after the finish of the timed section, Sebastien Loeb together with the navigator Daniel Elena continued the race.
In past years, Sebastien Loeb played on the Dakar as a rider of the factory team of the Peugeot Sport rear-wheel drive buggy Peugeot 3008 DKR. Last year, this sports program was curtailed, and the cars were sold to the French team PH Sport. So in Dakar-2019 Loeb was driving as a “private trader”. He finished in third place, and Qatari racer Nacer Al-Attiy won the prototype Toyota Hilux of the factory team Toyota Gazoo Racing.
