See how the high-performance BMW M5 Competition passes the Nurburgring circleJune 15, 2019
It takes 7 minutes and 35 seconds for the powerful Bavarian sedan to drive the Nürburgring completely. This is not so bad for a car that weighs 1,982.2 kg. I must say that the video from the passage of the track is fascinating.
In the world of super sedans, the Bavarian BMW M5 is one of the best. Luxurious medium-sized and, moreover, properly “charged” model has enormous power, which allows partially compensating for its hefty weight, and in standard form the car can pass the Nurburgring in just 7 minutes and 38.92 seconds. Some people remember that this impressive lap time was achieved last year by people from the German Sport Auto.
Why do we remember about it? Because the same people returned to the race with a tougher version of the M5 – this is about the performance of the Competition.
Thanks to a little more power and various other improvements that this car has compared to the standard M5, the guys from Sport Auto managed to reduce the lap time by three seconds. They drove through the Nürburgring circle in 7 minutes and 35.90 seconds, which is very impressive if you take into account that the car weighs 1 982 kilograms. In both cases, the M5 was driven by Christian Gebhardt from Sport Auto, so the comparison between the two time periods is absolutely appropriate.
The BMW M5 Competition is not the fastest four-door car that drove around the Nordschleife. The Italian Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (7:32), the German Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S (7:25) and the British Jaguar XE SV Project 8 with a lap time of 7 minutes 21.23 seconds also tried their strength.
