See how the electric Porsche 718 might lookSeptember 21, 2019
The designer was inspired by the look of the Taycan electric car and came up with a new look for the Cayman
If the Porsche 718 family in the new generation replaces boxer motors with an electric power plant, then it might look like this.
Designer Kleber Silva tried to imagine what a Porsche 718 Cayman would have looked like if it had lost its internal combustion engines and switched to electric traction in a new generation. He took, of course, the first electric car in the history of Porsche – the latest Taycan. Using computer graphics, the Brazilian presented the Cayman with a new design for the front and rear. It turned out great!
The mid-engined coupe in the style of Taycan looks surprisingly impressive and quite worthy of getting on the conveyor. Even such a controversial design element as the vertical ducts on the sides of the headlamps on a compact sports car look, perhaps, better than on a sedan. The middle part of the car, as well as the roof with struts, remained unchanged from the 718 Cayman.
Silva also retained such a Taycan design element as rims with body-colored rims. The back of the Cayman received LED lights in the form of a continuous strip and at the same time lost its exhaust pipes. Rumor has it that the future generation of the 718 family may, unlike the 911, really turn into electric cars in the near future, but a final decision has not yet been made.
