Cars crushed by caterpillars of the British Chiftain
The Chicago television station WGN-TV released in prime time a special storyline for the morning show. At the DuPage County Fairgrounds fairground, the company crushed two decommissioned working vans with the help of British heavy tanks Chieftain.
Chiftain was in service with the army of the United Kingdom in the 60s and 70s of the XX century and was considered one of the strongest tanks of its time. It was first installed reclining driver’s seat, allowing to reduce the overall height of the car. The mass of the Chieftain of the last modification was about 56 tons. It was equipped with a diesel or gasoline engine Rolls-Royce with a capacity of 800 and 900 horsepower, respectively.
In July, Arnold Schwarzenegger invited TV presenter Jay Leno to ride a 1951 M-47 Patton tank, which the former California Governor received as a gift from the Austrian army. During a test drive at the Iron Arnie range, the Lincoln Town Car limousine crushed the tracks with its tracks.
