Sebastian Vettel: the car is close to the idealFebruary 18, 2019
Sebastian Vettel showed the best time on the first day of tests in Barcelona. And although the Ferrari driver is pleased with the new car, he warned against hasty conclusions …
“We could not hope for the best,” says Sebastian. – I think the first day was incredible. We have completed the entire planned program, and even did a little more. The first impressions I received from the car yesterday were very good. Today they were confirmed.
The car works, I feel comfortable behind the wheel. I was a little “rusty”, because for several months I did not get behind the wheel, but I drove enough laps and will sleep well today. It was nice to get back behind the wheel, although today I was even a little tired. The machine is working and I am very pleased – everything goes the way I want. At the moment everything is fine.
Of course, it is too early to draw conclusions, since only the first day of tests is behind. Moreover, there is no point in drawing conclusions in the next couple of weeks. But I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who worked on the base. Due to the way they interpreted the new regulations, on the first day the behavior of the car on the track was close to ideal.
The number of laps and how the team worked with the machine – everything was better compared to last year, we did not have any problems. From this point of view, we are well prepared. ”
The 2019 season will be the fifth for Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari, and it was in his fifth year that Michael Schumacher brought the first title to Scuderia. The parallels suggest themselves, but in an interview with Sky Sports, Sebastian asks not to hurry: “It’s too early to talk about something, since we only worked one day on the tests. Honestly, I do not have the feeling that I have been in this team for five years.
There were seasons when we performed better, there were seasons when we performed worse, but the team was constantly progressing, every year we became closer to each other. I hope this year we will have fun. Fun means winning races and fighting for a title. We want this, but now it’s too early to talk about it. In any case, I am positive. ”
