SEAT became part of JAC VolkswagenJuly 12, 2018
Another alliance was made between the Germans and the Chinese. This time the company Volkswagen agreed to cooperate with FAW. In addition, the joint venture JAC Volkswagen now includes the Spanish brand SEAT. The partners intend to jointly produce unmanned vehicles.
On Tuesday, July 10, VW announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with FAW and the China Intelligent and Connected Vehicles Research Institute. The latter deals in particular with the development of autonomous technologies for cars. Together they will work not only on drones, but also on machines that can interact with other vehicles and road infrastructure objects.
A representative of the company said that in their plans by 2025 to sell on the market of the Middle Kingdom 1.5 million new cars. To this end, the Chinese capacities will establish the release of 40 models of hybrids and electric vehicles under different brands.
One of them is SEAT. A year ago, JAC and VW created a joint venture for the production of the Sol E20X, which in fact is a slightly redesigned electrocar JAC iEV7S. So far this is the only product created by the alliance.
Now the alliance will include the Spaniards. It is noted that the brand will be leading in the union and will also take an active part in the development of electric cars. So in 2020 – 2021, we should expect its cars in the Chinese market.
Recall that in the framework of the German-Chinese meeting in Berlin, an agreement to create a joint venture for the development and production of electric cars was signed by BMW and Great Wall.
