Company Seat will release its first serial electric car in 2020. This is reported by AutoExpress with reference to the head of the brand Luca de Meo. The power reserve of the novelty will be 500 km. According to unofficial data, Seat will name its first serial electric car Born – in honor of the fashionable district in the center of Barcelona.

The novelty will be built on the MEB platform from Volkswagen. The electric car will be a city hatchback, the harbinger of which was shown in February last year at the World Mobile Congress-2017 in Barcelona. Prototype created on the basis of Volkswagen up! and Skoda Citigo, was equipped with 81-strong unit.

It is expected that the car will be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems that were not previously available on the cars of the Spanish brand. In overall dimensions, the novelty will be smaller than the hatchback Leon, which, in turn, will receive a hybrid version in 2020.

Seat plans to introduce six new models to the market by 2020. In addition to the electric car and hybrid Leon, the Spaniards will release a flagship crossover that will be built on the modular MQB A2 chassis of the Volkswagen concern and will divide the main units with Skoda Kodiaq. For the novelty there will be a modification with a seven-seater saloon and an all-wheel drive transmission. The premiere of the car will take place this year.

Next year, Seat will also present a charged version of the Ateca crossover, which will receive the traditional Cupra prefix in the title. The all-terrain vehicle will be equipped with a two-liter petrol 4-cylinder turbo engine with a capacity of about 300 horsepower.

In addition, over the next three years, Seat will build a mid-size hatchback that will replace the current Leon. It is assumed that this model will be presented with a new firm design trend of the Spanish brand. In addition, the successor of Leon will be the first car Seat, which will be available with a hybrid power plant.
