Seat announced the release of a new model in 2020March 22, 2018
Information about the company’s nearest plans was disclosed at the annual press conference of the brand.
The Spanish manufacturer plans to launch its first production electric vehicle in 2020. The stock of the future novelty will be 500 kilometers on one charge. According to preliminary information, the electric car will receive the name Born – the name of an expensive area in the center of Barcelona.
The Seat electric vehicle will be based on the MEB platform of the Volkswagen concern and will take the form of a city hatchback, the prototype of which was demonstrated in February 2017 as part of the World Mobile Congress held in Barcelona. The concept was built on the basis of Volkswagen models up! and Skoda Citigo with 81-strong power plant.
It is assumed that the arsenal of the electric car will be a set of advanced driver assistants, not previously offered in the models of the Spanish brand. By the size of Born, there will be less Leon, who, by the way, will have a hybrid modification in 2020, but before that, in 2019, there will be a change of generation.
By 2020, Seat intends to replenish the product line with six models. In addition to the aforementioned electric car and the Leon hybrid, the flagship Tarraco crossover will appear on the MQB A2 platform, the technical filling of which will be largely repeated by Skoda Kodiaq. He will also have a seven-seat option and four-wheel drive. The Spaniards will present the novelty already this year.
The plans for 2019 also release a charged modification of the Ateca cross sub-branded Cupra. The “hot” version of the cross will receive a gasoline turbo engine in volume of 2.0 liters, developing capacity of about 200 hp.
The latest novelty of the brand was the charged station wagon Leon Cupra R ST, presented at the Geneva Motor Show.
