Scientists have named the main reason for drowsiness behind the wheelJuly 6, 2018
According to scientists, the main reason for the sleepiness of drivers is the natural low-frequency vibration of the car
Low-frequency vibration in the car is the main reason for the sleep of drivers behind the wheel. This conclusion was reached by scientists from Melbourne Royal University of Technology in Australia after the experiment, according to Science Daily.
The study involved 15 volunteers. Tests were conducted on a special simulator, which simulates driving on a car. In one case, drivers were subjected to low-frequency vibrations (4-7 hertz), and in the other, the ride passed without vibration.
According to scientists, the vibration of the car begins to affect the driver’s condition after 15 minutes of starting traffic. In half an hour, the attention of a motorist may weaken. The peak of fatigue occurs within 60 minutes. It is noted that fatigue caused by vibration directly affects the ability to perform even simple mental tasks.
Help to solve this problem can be a redesigned design of seats in cars, the researchers say. They hope that the results of the tests will be of interest to leading car companies.
