SCG unveils hydrogen-powered Baja Boot pickupFebruary 5, 2021
The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has presented a pickup truck called the SCG 010 Zero through a series of visualizations.
The four-door pickup shares a lot with the Baja Boot, featuring the familiar large cross-beam front end, four simple headlights, and pronounced fender flares. However, the highlight is not the car’s appearance, but its power plant. Owner James Glickenhouse is convinced that hydrogen is the future and unveiled the SCG 010 Zero with an advanced hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system that could cover distances of up to 1,600 km on a single tank.
These hydrogen fuel cells will power at least one electric motor, but given that the vehicle will be designed with an off-road capability in mind, it is expected to have electric motors on both axles to provide four-wheel drive.
It remains unclear whether the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will actually make the 010 Zero a reality. The company already has a lot to do, including completing the launch of the road-legal 004S supercar, preparing its 007 race car for the Le Mans hypercar class, upgrading the Baja Boot with an LT5 V8 engine and more.
